Prof. Oost received both her degrees from Laurentian University, and has worked for both the Department of Biology and the Department of Anthropology.  She has also held positions as a professor with Cambrian College and with the Anishinabek Educational Institute of the Union of Ontario Indians.  Prof. Oost is currently Curator of the Forensic Osteology Laboratory and Forensic Entomology.  In addition to heading up the Laboratory operations, she is the laboratory instructor for FORS 2106 Introduction to Forensic Biology, FORS 2107 Introduction to Forensic Science, FORS 3036 Forensic Anatomy of the Human Skeleton, and FORS 4106 Forensic Analysis of the Human Skeleton.  Prof. Oost also developed and teaches FORS 4017 Investigative Techniques for Forensic Scientists, and is the Thesis/Internship Coordinator for the Department.  As a consultant to the Office of the Chief Coroner of Ontario, and various police agencies, her work has also involved scene documentation, collection, analysis, and court presentation of evidence dealing with decomposing human remains.  Her research has included testing methods for determining age at death from human skeletal remains, establishing postmortem interval of human remains through biochemical testing, and development of entomological standards for determining post mortem interval in Ontario.  Prof. Oost holds memberships in the Canadian Society of Forensic Science, The Canadian Identification Society, and the Entomological Society of Ontario.
